Trey Potts may have the toughest job in the B1G this week.

The Minnesota running back is taking the handoffs now that last season’s conference running back of the year Mo Ibrahim is out for the remainder of the season.

So far, the sophomore tailback is getting the job done, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown during the first half of the Gophers home opener against Miami (OH).

Minnesota leads 21-3 at the half.

Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck was confident in the depth he had at the running back position, with Potts, Cam Wiley and Bryce Williams all looking to help carry the load with Ibrahim out.

Ibrahim suffered a season-ending injury during the Gophers opener with Ohio State. The fifth-year senior had surgery last week and will require four to six months to recover. He was tabbed a second-team preseason Associated Press All-American selection.
