The significance of playing on 9-11 has been widely recognized across the college football schedule today, and before Nebraska took the field to host Buffalo in their season opener, the Huskers paid tribute in a special way.

During the playing of the National Anthem, a massive flag in the shape of the United States accompanied the Nebraska band’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

In addition to the pregame tribute, the Nebraska players will also be donning all-white uniforms, and they will have a faint camouflage pattern across the jersey and pants. Their helmet will also get a change for this game, a red “NU” will be featured on the side of the helmet as opposed to their traditional block “N.”

The Huskers enter the game with a 1-1 record on the season, while Buffalo is 1-0.
