Week 2 featured some big games and good action throughout with all 14 B1G teams in play.
Some of the notable performances included Iowa posting a dominating defensive performance and Michigan controlling the game against Washington with a strong ground game.
Unfortunately, not all of the results were positive. Illinois was blown out by Virginia while Ohio State had some key mistakes that led to the first regular-season loss under Ryan Day.
For their efforts, 4 B1G players were named to PFF’s Week 2 Team of the Week with 3 nominations on the defensive side of the ball:
- RB: Evan Hull, Northwestern
- LB: Jesse Luketa, Penn State
- CB: Matt Hankins, Iowa
- S: Tyler Nubin, Minnesota
Of this group, Luketa shined with the additional honor of being named the Defensive POTW for his work against Ball State. Luketa stood out for his ability to play multiple slots for Penn State’s defense and also for snaring a one-handed interception that went for a touchdown.
