Then, the Spartans got a huge 39-yard touchdown pass play from quarterback Payton Thorne to wide receiver Jalen Nailor to put the Spartans up 31-17 with 4:12 left in the game.
In the following play for the Hurricanes, quarterback D’Eriq King throws a costly interception to Spartans senior cornerback Ronald Williams. That interception from Williams was the fourth turnover caused by Michigan State, including two interceptions from King.
Michigan State then took a four-play, 23-yard drive that resulted in an eight-yard touchdown run from wide receiver Jayden Reed to put Michigan State up 38-17.
That touchdown was the third touchdown for Michigan State in the fourth quarter. Michigan State held on to the 38-17 as they shocked a ranked Miami team on the road.
