Northwestern receives largest donation in school history

Northwestern has just received the largest donation in school history. The Ryan family is donating $480 million, part of which will help to redevelop Ryan Field.
NEW: The Ryan Family has just given the largest donation ($480 million) in Northwestern history. Part of the donation, which includes research and educational programs, is the redevelopment of Ryan Field. The Ryans are providing the lead gift for the stadium’s redevelopment.

The last renovation for Ryan Field came in 1997.
“The impact of their visionary generosity on past, present and future Wildcats is truly incomparable,” Northwestern Athletic Director Derrick Gragg said. “The rebuilt Ryan Field will be a world-class venue befitting this institution’s pursuit of excellence in all areas.”
Defending B1G West champion Northwestern is off to a 1-2 start to the 2021 season. Northwestern is coming off a 30-23 loss at Duke. Next up for Northwestern is a home matchup vs. Ohio on Sept. 25 (12 p.m. EST/BTN).
