Clemson, a perennial College Football Playoff contender, now has two losses before the calendar flips to October.
North Carolina State upset the Tigers 27-21 at home on Saturday evening, winning the game in double overtime. The Wolfpack had chances to win earlier in the game, but eventually got it done.
After the final play, North Carolina State fans rushed the field to celebrate their win over No. 9 Clemson:

Quarterback Devin Leary completed 32-of-44 passes for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win. On the other side, Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei was held to just 111 passing yards and threw an interception.
This is North Carolina State’s first win over Clemson since 2011. The Tigers had won eight straight games in this series, despite a couple close calls over the years.
With a 2-2 record, Clemson may already be effectively eliminated from College Football Playoff consideration. It’s possible the Tigers could rally and still win the ACC, but there’s a long way to go for their offense.
