Michigan survived a nailbiter against Rutgers on Saturday and that got them to 4-0 on the season.
It was the Wolverines running game that mainly carried the load as Hassan Haskins finished with 41 yards on 12 carries with 2 touchdowns. Star running back Blake Corum was held to just 68 yards on 21 carries.
They took a 20-3 lead into halftime before Rutgers stormed back and had chances late in the 4th quarter, but the Wolverines defense was up to the challenge.
With a matchup against Wisconsin looming next Saturday, here’s what head coach Jim Harbaugh said to the media after this win.
Harbaugh: "(when the offense has) that many 3-and-outs, (fatigue) is going to be a factor…. that showed the character of our defense today."

Harbaugh on Josh Ross’ injury: “He’s gonna be OK. He was working through something and just didn’t quite get the strength back to go back in the game.”

Harbaugh: "We didn't gkoaway from the passing game… Fout straight 3-and-outs is 12 plays… One of those 3-and-outs was three straight passes."
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) September 25, 2021
Harbaugh: "the defense… i thought they really competed… The defense was in a bad position (because) the offense went 3 and out three straight drives. They found a way."

"When they make a space for 'pretty' on the scoreboard we'll worry about that," Jim Harbaugh just told the media

On the play calling and time management before halftime, Harbaugh says 5 seconds is dicey when trying to run a play and save enough time for field goal.
