Michigan defeated Rutgers 20-13 on Saturday, but quarterback Cade McNamara struggled at times in the victory.

He completed 9-of-16 passes for 163 yards, but couldn’t find the endzone. He also didn’t lead a scoring drive in the second half.

After the game, McNamara acknowledged that he needs to improve.

“We were extremely efficient in the first half,” McNamara told reporters, via MLive.com. “Whatever it was, I’ve got to be better as well. When they load the box like that, it’s got to come down to us beating them in man-coverage. We have do a better job overall offensively as a unit.

“Me, wide receivers, running backs, being able to break clean coverage. That’s what it’s going to come down to.”

Through four games, McNamara has completed 33-of-53 passes for 534 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The Wolverines have mostly leaned on their running game en route to a 4-0 start.

Michigan will travel to face a struggling Wisconsin offense in Madison in Week 5.
