It was a rough week for Ohio State at the linebacker position.
Senior Dallas Gant entered the NCAA transfer portal during the week, and now classmate K’Vaughan Pope has been dismissed from the team. That announcement came from head coach Ryan Day Sunday afternoon.

During the second quarter of Saturday night’s game against Akron, Pope attempted to enter the game on a Buckeyes defensive play. He was waved off by linebacker Teradja Mitchell, and he stormed off the Buckeyes’s bench and began to head around the field toward the tunnel, before returning to the sideline. He then threw his gloves into the stand while walking back.
There were some heated conversations that took place upon Pope’s return to the bench area.
After sleeping on it, Pope posted an apology to Twitter on Sunday, but the decision appears to be a done deal.
Last night I let my emotions get the best of me. For that I want to apologize to my teammates, coaches and Buckeye Nation. I made a mistake and know that I need to be better and do better. I’m going to take this time to reflect and work on my mental well-being.
