This week, Ohio State is heading into the thick of conference play against Rutgers; they are already 1-0 in conference play after beating Minnesota Week 1 45-31.
The Buckeyes finished up non-conference play against in-state opponent Akron winning the game 59-7. The Buckeyes are 3-1 overall and No.11 in the AP Top-25 poll.
Last week, the Buckeyes got the job done without starting QB C.J. Stroud as he is dealing with a shoulder injury.
QB Kyle McCord got the start and played well. He was 13-of-19 for a 68.4% completion rate, throwing for 319 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Head coach Ryan Day said that if Stroud is healthy, he will be the starter on Saturday against Rutgers.
“We’ll see how today goes, said Day, according to Bill Rabinowitz, Ohio State beat writer for the Dispatch. “The week helped him. We’re looking forward to a great week of practice.” Said he’s the QB if he’s healthy.”
