The Nittany Lions got the game’s first touchdown after they gashed the Hawkeyes’ defense.

After Iowa grabbed a field goal thanks to a Sean Clifford turnover, Penn State drove down the field methodically and took a 7-3 lead.

Noah Cain ran the ball in from 2 yards out thanks to a 2nd effort after it looked like he was going to be initially stopped.

That was Cain’s first carry of the game and one that could very much decide the outcome. Coming into this matchup, Cain had 59 carries for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns while averaging a little over 3 yards a carry.

He’s already on pace to shatter his previous career-high in rushing yards from 2019. Cain finishes with 443 yards and 8 touchdowns on 5.3 yards per carry for that season.

If another short-yardage situation comes up, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Cain get the ball again, especially with that kind of success.

The game is currently being televised by FOX.
