Week 6 provided a shakeup to many rankings systems with the surprising loss by No. 1 Alabama.

Heading on the road to face Texas A&M, Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide team actually erased a two-score deficit in the second half. Alabama battled all the way back for a 38-31 lead in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the Tide watched as A&M rattled off the last 10 points of the game, including a game-winning field goal as time expired.

Alabama dropped out of No. 1 on the latest AP Poll, and the Tide also slid out of the top spot of Herbstreit’s personal rankings. Georgia filled that top spot.

Alabama still hung on inside the Top 6 for Herbstreit while Penn State dropped out with the loss to Iowa. Replacing Penn State in the Top 6 was Ohio State after back-to-back blowout wins in B1G games.

Here is Herbstreit’s Top 6:

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
  2. Oklahoma Sooners
  3. Iowa Hawkeyes
  4. Cincinnati Bearcats
  5. Ohio State Buckeyes
  6. Alabama Crimson Tide
