On Tuesday morning, former Ohio State linebacker De’van Bogard was reportedly killed Tuesday morning in an apartment fire in Elyria, Ohio. Bogard played for OSU from 2012-14.

A Cleveland native, Bogard was a four-star recruit when he came to Ohio State, but suffered from injuries throughout his career at OSU, suffering three straight ACL tears in 2012, 2013 and 2014. He ultimately ended his football playing career before the 2015 season.

Bogard was the first freshman during Urban Meyer’s tenure to lose his black stripe, and was a regular on special teams when healthy, and had 13 tackles during his three seasons. He graduated in 2016, and became a football coach at Elyria High School.

According to the Elyria Chronicle Telegram, the fire has been determined to be accidental.
