Just a few weeks ago Purdue found themselves in a battle at home against a hapless Illinois team, and managed to pull out a 13-9 home win to bounce back from their loss to No. 14 Notre Dame the week before.

But that was then, and this is now.

The No. 25 Boilermakers are coming off a dominant 24-7 win over then second-ranked Iowa. This week’s AP Poll took notice, and now Purdue is in unfamiliar territory — they have found the Top-25 rankings for the first time since 2007.

Purdue had the benefit of having some injured players back on the field, with wide receiver David Bell and running back King Doerue both back and full strength. Both players have missed games and were impact players during the win over the Hawkeyes.

The rankings drought was the longest of any Power 5 school, with the Boilermakers last time on the chart being in October, 2007 when they sat at No. 23. No. 11 Iowa dropped from the top 10 with the loss.

Next up for the Boilermakers is a home matchup with Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM.
