Illinois head coach Bret Bielema had some bad news to share in his Monday press conference about running back Mike Epstein.

Bielema says that he will not be back with the team for the rest of the year. Epstein has not played since the Fighting Illini faced Texas-San Antonio on September 4.

Epstein got off to a great start in Illinois victory over Nebraska when he had 16 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown.

It looked like he was about to have a strong year out of the backfield for Illinois, but yet another injury interrupted his season. And now it appears his season, and possibly his career, is over in Champaign.

Bielema didn’t go into much detail about Epstein’s injury.

In his career, Epstein rushed for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns.
