Mo Ibrahim was the B1G’s top running back last season. Rodney Smith is Minnesota’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards. Trey Potts turned out to be a quality replacement this season after Ibrahim’s injury in Week 1.

That means Minnesota’s doing something right. And if you ask PJ Fleck, that “something right” is RB coach Kenni Burns.

Fleck talked about Burns’ impact on the RB room in his weekly press conference Monday, saying Burns is “one of the best teachers of the running back position I’ve ever been around.”

Burns followed Fleck to Minnesota in 2017 after the two worked together at Western Michigan in 2016. Fleck was the head coach and Burns was the running backs coach. He also coached at Wyoming and North Dakota State, where he worked with receivers and the passing game.

He sure seems to be doing a good job in the Twin Cities under Fleck.
