ESPN’s FPI predicts outcome of Wisconsin-Purdue showdown

A wild Week 7 has breathed some new life into the B1G West race heading into the second half of October.
Purdue was the big story of the weekend with wide receiver David Bell stealing the show. Behind Bell’s career day, the Boilermakers took down No. 2 Iowa to keep things tight in the West.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin won while using some clutch plays late to hold off Army, 20-14. It was another far from impressive performance from the Badgers, but, as DC Jim Leonhard pointed out Monday, anything can happen down the stretch of the season.
In Week 8, Purdue and Wisconsin will square off in what has suddenly become a critical matchup in the B1G West. A third loss for the Badgers would essentially eliminate them from the race. However, an upset on the road would keep Wisconsin on pace with 2 conference losses and games against Iowa and Minnesota still to come.
According to ESPN’s FPI, Purdue is expected to maintain the home-field advantage in a likely close contest. The FPI is giving the Boilermakers a 55.2% chance of coming away with the win in West Lafayette.
