Buckeyes linebackers coach Al Washington has nothing but respect for both K’Vaughan Pope and Dallas Gant.

Both Pope and Gant left the program this season, though it happened in 2 totally different ways. Gant entered the transfer portal on Sept. 22 before Pope had a massive sideline outburst and walked out on the team.

Washington spoke to the media for the first time since both of those players left the team and had great things to say about them (via Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors).

“I got nothing but love for those kids. I spent so much time with them. And I support them as they go forth and do what they need to do,” Washington said. “It’s never easy. And I completely understand their frustration. Both those two young men are great people and really good players.”

Before Pope walked out on the program, he had 3 total tackles and 1 pass defended. On the other hand, Gant had 10 total tackles (4 solo) before he decided to enter the transfer portal.

Both players have not yet announced where they will continue their respective careers yet.
