Last week, Geronimo Allison was temporarily bumped up from the Detroit Lions’ practice squad.

Now, he’s staying in the NFL.

The Lions announced they signed Allison to the active roster Wednesday after he spent much of the first six weeks on the practice squad. It comes after a rough game for Lions wide receivers in their 34-11 loss to Cincinnati.

Allison played at Illinois from 2014-15 after two years at community college. He broke out during his senior year in 2015, totaling 882 yards and 3 touchdowns on 65 catches in 11 starts. The Green Bay Packers signed him after he went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft and spent three years there, tallying 1,045 yards and 6 touchdowns on 89 catches.

He signed with Detroit prior to the 2020 season, but opted out due to COVID-19 concerns. But Detroit ended up bringing him back this year on the practice squad, and is now giving him another chance on an NFL roster.
