Purdue is looking to keep its run into the AP Top 25 going strong, and the defense provided a huge swing on one play against Wisconsin.

It all started with Jamari Brown coming off the edge on a blitz. Wisconsin’s QB Graham Mertz did not pick up the pressure in time and was drilled quickly.

Brown’s hit dislodged the ball, and George Karflaftis was quick to scoop it up. After the recovery, Karlaftis flashed his speed, rumbling 56 yards for the scoop-and-score and 13-10 lead over Purdue.

That play provided a huge boost as Purdue’s offense has struggled to get going in the early going. Aidan O’Connell has thrown 2 interceptions in the first half, but the defense helped steal some points and the momentum early on. Wisconsin has since tied it at 13-all with a field goal with halftime quickly approaching.
