Well, that wasn’t how that No. 7 Penn State vs. Illinois game was supposed to go.

It took 9 overtimes, but Illinois pulled off the upset, 20-18 — and Penn State fans are furious on social media.

And it made for quite a ratio.

The Nittany Lions totaled 227 yards against Illinois, which entered the game allowing a B1G-worst 429.1 points per game. Quarterback Sean Clifford, fresh off an undisclosed injury, completed 19 of 34 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in the effort.

Now, Penn State will likely fall out of the top 10 and out of College Football Playoff consideration with the loss. Nittany Lions fans replied to the Penn State Football Twitter account to voice their displeasure, and some of the replies were absolutely hilarious.
