Star running back Mohamed Ibrahim rushed for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns on 30 carries in the season-opening loss against Ohio State. Ibrahim was out for the year with a lower leg injury. Sophomore Trey Potts accounted for three 100 rushing yards performances before suffering an undisclosed injury following the win at Purdue.

Minnesota utilizes three different running backs with distinct attributes that help transcend their rushing offense. Freshman Mar’Keise Irving had his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season on Saturday versus Maryland by rushing for 105 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Freshman Ky Thomas also had his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season by rushing for 139 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.

Finally, junior Bryce Williams had his first 100-yard rushing performance against Nebraska, one game after the season-ending injury to Potts. Williams rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in the win over Nebraska.

Minnesota (5-2) is ranked fourth in the B1G in rushing yards per game (210).
