Michigan State’s Mel Tucker responds to rumors regarding LSU opening

Within hours of the news that LSU head coach Ed Ogeron would not be returning to Baton Rouge next season hit the wires, the speculation about his replacement riddled social media.
Among the lists of potential replacements, Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker has been consistently included.
During his Monday press conference, Tucker was asked about the opening.
Tucker responded much as would be expected considering the Spartans next opponent.

The “school down the road” that Tucker is referring to is, of course, in-state rival Michigan.
The Spartans and the Wolverines are coming together as a pair of undefeated teams for the fourth time in the past 50 years. Michigan State has been on the winning end of two of those previous three, in 1999 and 2010 when both teams entered 5-0. The Wolverines won in 2005 when both were 4-0. But it’s been since 1964 since the rivalry matchup featured both teams in the AP Top-10.
It’ll be a classic Saturday afternoon college football-type showdown in East Lansing, with the Wolverines and Spartans set to kickoff at 11:00 AM on Oct. 30.
