Through the first seven games of the college football season, no secondary in the B1G has been playing as opportunistic as Iowa. From the opening kickoff, the Hawkeyes have swarmed the football, creating plenty of takeaways.

Cornerbacks Matt Hankins and Riley Moss have been a huge part of that success through the first half of the season. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has taken notice.

Hankins and Moss are currently listed as the two-highest graded cornerbacks in the B1G as we close out the month of October. Hankins is posting a grade of 86.2 while Moss is at 85.4.

Hankins has tallied 25 tackles, 3 interceptions and a pass break-up for the Hawkeyes during a 6-1 start. Moss has been responsible for 23 stops, 4 picks (including 2 returned for touchdowns), and 3 pass break-ups.

It’s hard to find many duos better than that right now.

The Hawkeyes are coming out of a bye week after taking their first loss, a 24-7 defeat at the hands of Purdue. Iowa will travel to Wisconsin for a rivalry showdown with B1G West implications hanging in the balance.
