Antoine Winfield Sr. says son won’t stay at Minnesota if changes aren’t made

Antoine Winfield Jr. was one of 10 Minnesota players that were suspended from any team activity and was facing a one-year suspension from the University because of a sexual assault case that occurred in September.

On Thursday, the players released an announcement planning their boycott of the Holiday Bowl and all football related activities unless those suspensions were lifted and they received a meeting with the Board of Regents.

But Winfield’s father chimed in, as well. The former NFL star isn’t happy with the treatment his son has received over the past few days and says his son won’t be in a Gopher uniform unless athletic director Mark Coyle and University President Eric Kaler are removed from their positions:

Winfield Sr. played at Ohio State in the late 90s and enjoyed a 14-year career in the NFL. Nine of those years were spent with the Minnesota Vikings.

His son, Antoine Jr. was a freshman for the Gophers this season, recording 52 tackles, four pass break-ups and an interception.
