James Franklin talks QBs ahead of Ohio State showdown

Everyone remembers the 2016 Penn State/Ohio State game. The Buckeyes went into Happy Valley and came out with a 24-21 loss to the Nittany Lions. Since then, Ohio State has won the last four meetings.

This time around, Penn State may be without starting quarterback Sean Clifford. In last year’s game, Clifford had 281 yards passing with three touchdowns and an interception, but Penn State came up short by a score of 38-25 at home.

The team is expecting Clifford to be fully healthy, but as a precaution, the other quarterbacks have been getting reps at practice. Clifford has been dealing with an injury he suffered during the second quarter of the Iowa game in Week 6.

In case Clifford can’t play on Saturday, quarterbacks Ta’Quan Roberson and Christian Veilleux are looking like the two options to pick from to replace him if he can’t play.

Penn State head coach James Franklin commented on how the two have done in preparation for this game.

“Pretty well,” said Franklin. “I think him and Veilleux both have handled things pretty well. They’ve both gotten a bunch of reps. You’re trying to compare and contrast with two different scenarios a little bit, but I think they’ve handled it well.”
