The B1G is loaded with huge matchups in Week 9 of the 2021 College Football season. While there are big games like #6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State and #20 Penn State at #5 Ohio State could have some big offensive moments, there are other games in the conference like #9 Iowa at Wisconsin that will be all defense.
Iowa’s defense ranks second in the B1G in points allowed per game (14.6) while Wisconsin’s defense ranks fifth in the B1G in points allowed per game (18.4).
The game is expected to be a defensive battle as both teams’ defenses are stout, but their offenses are inefficient. According to FanDuel, the over/under for the game is set at 36.5, one of the lowest, if not the over/under in the nation this week.
College Gameday’s David Pollack gave his favored team in this matchup:
“I do trust Wisconsin. I trust their run game. I don’t trust Iowa’s run game. Their offense has been all over the place. Wisconsin at least has an identity of who they are in the ground game. I trust Wisconsin more.”
Kirk Herbstreit had this to say about the key to the game:
“I think this game, low scoring like a 12-6, 12-9 kind game. The turnover margin will be the difference in the game. Iowa, turnovers have been great for them most of the year and for Wisconsin, it’s the opposite. So, to me, whoever wins that battle, gets those extra possessions will be the difference in the game.”
The winner of Saturday’s B1G West matchup is huge for the division race. We’ll see what happens in Madison on Saturday afternoon.
