Rutgers enjoyed a celebration in Campaign on Saturday after slipping past Illinois on the road, 20-14.

The Scarlet Knights (4-4, 1-4 Big Ten) stopped a four-game slide by controlling the clock behind a dominating ground game to grab their first conference win of the season. Rutgers rushed for 230 yards and had the ball for 35:01 while limiting Illinois to 107 yards on the ground.

Isaih Pacheco rushed for a game-high 91 yards on 21 carries for the Scarlet Knights, while Kyle Monangai added 77 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Noah Vedral passed for 138 yards and rushed for 56 yards and one TD after missing time in the first half with an undisclosed injury.

Coming off last week’s nine-overtime win at Penn State, Illinois led 14-10 at the half but fell flat in the second half. Rutgers scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to secure the come-from-behind road win.
