Maryland’s 38-35 win over Indiana on Saturday left coach Mike Locksley and his Terrapins singing a happy song afterward in their victorious locker room.

The homecoming win snapped a three-game slide for Maryland, which had been outscored by a 151-47 margin in its previous three games against Iowa, Ohio State and Minnesota after starting the season 4-0. Now the Terps (5-3, 2-3 Big Ten) are one win from being bowl eligible. Their last bowl appearance came in 2016.

Junior quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa led Maryland with a career-high 419 passing yards and two TD passes against Indiana (2-6, 0-5). He is first player in program history to throw for 400 yards since Danny O’Brien in 2010.

With star receiver Dontay Demus Jr. sidelined due to a season-ending knee injury, senior Carlos Carriere picked up the slack with a career-high 134 yards and two TDs on eight catches.

Maryland has now matched its win total from its first two seasons under Locksley. A win next week over Penn State would move the Terps one step closer to their first winning season since 2014.
