Ohio State survived a scare against rival Penn State on Saturday night and continued its quest to get to both the B1G Championship Game and College Football Playoff.
The Buckeyes won 33-24, thanks to the offense coming alive in the second half after some 1st half struggles. OSU only had 19 rushing yards going into halftime and it was good for just 1.6 yards per carry. That’s nothing like how it normally is for the buckeyes running the ball, but it got much better in that 2nd half.
Freshman TreVeyon Henderson finished with over 150 yards rushing on 28 carries, plus a touchdown as he continues his dominant season. It’s hard to contain Henderson for 4 quarters as eventually, he’s going to get his chunk plays.
Quarterback CJ Stroud also had a strong showing as he threw for over 300 yards and 1 touchdown. That TD went to Chris Olave, who notched his 31st career touchdown reception with the Buckeyes, and 4th against the Nittany Lions.
The Buckeye defense also came to play as Jerron Cage had a scoop-and-score touchdown, plus Clifford got intercepted late in the 4th quarter. OSU got deep into PSU territory after that pick and put it away for good with a field goal.
OSU will get Nebraska on the road next Saturday, while PSU will travel to College Park to take on Maryland.
