The latest Football Power Index rankings from ESPN have been released. It’s fitting that it’s Halloween, because it feels like there are some tricks involved.

After Week 9, ESPN’s FPI updated its Top 25, as well as where every team in the FBS falls. There are some head-scratching placements based on what we saw, particularly in the B1G.

Michigan is sitting at the No. 5 spot this week, the second-highest ranked team from the conference. Michigan State, which defeated the Wolverines 37-33, are at No. 15.

Seriously.

Nebraska is still ahead of both Minnesota and Purdue, despite losing to both in its last two games. Indiana also finds itself ahead of Maryland, despite a 2-6 record and a head-to-head loss to the Terrapins on Saturday. Yeah, it’s pretty strange
