Where would we be without statistics?
Well, for one thing many of us would be without a job. Sports is all about statistics, and the analysis of just about every facet of every game is a full time job.
WIth the college football season starting to near its end, the rankings and prospective teams that will be included in the College Football Playoffs will be peppering sports talk and social media from now until the end of 2021.
ESPN’s Heather Dinich took a look at the network’s strength of record metric and found the remaining undefeated B1G team near the top of the mix.
According to ESPN's strength of record metric (which I love because it has closely correlated with top four), one-loss Bama has one of the top 4 resumes in FBS, ahead of undefeated Wake Forest and Cincinnati. SOR is currently UGA, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Bama.

Joining No. 5 Michigan State at the top of the metric are No. 1 Georgia, No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Oklahoma.
The Spartans will travel to West Lafayette to take on Purdue next weekend before returning to East Lansing to host Maryland. But the circle on the schedule right now looks to be the next weekend when they head south to Columbus to take on No. 6 Ohio State. Finally, the regular season concludes when No. 22 Penn State comes to Spartans Stadium on Nov. 27.
