Here’s what Indiana’s Tom Allen said during weekly presser as Hoosiers prepare for Michigan

It’s been a rough season for Indiana after surprising so many people during 2020.
Yes, injuries haven’t helped but a lot of people expected the Hoosiers to be a lot better than 2-6 as it looks like they won’t even be bowl eligible. They lost a close one to Maryland on Saturday, 38-35 as they couldn’t fully erase a 28-17 deficit in the 4th quarter.
It doesn’t get any easier for them now as they travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines this Saturday.
Here’s what head coach Tom Allen said as his squad prepares for that matchup.

Allen said he's "disappointed in our defense." But just said there was not enough complementary football.

Allen said Zach Carpenter "needed to be in one of those spots," and had been working his way through injury for the early parts of this season. Mike Katic is out with injury so that necessitated somebody moving into one of the interior spots.

Allen asked about Sheridan being on the sideline: "Definitely by design. Nick came to me and told me why he thought he should do that." Said it was definitely to be able to be face to face with McCulley throughout the game. Said he thought it was positive for the offense.

Allen on Hendershot: "Peyton's been phenomenal. … I'm very excited for him and very proud of him."

Allen talking at length about what it's been like for the wide receiving corps to get used to three quarterbacks who throw three different passes. Says it's just taken a lot of work and obviously, it's a work in progress.

Allen said again that he's been frustrated with the offensive line play throughout the year, which led to the moves on Saturday, Bedford moving to left tackle and Carpenter getting in at right tackle.

Asked Allen what will govern what he does if and when Penix and Tuttle return healthy. He stuck with his last answer and said "for now, Donaven is the healthiest guy," which for now makes him the starting quarterback.

Allen said Penix has been moving around and throwing and it's "unknown" how fast Tuttle might be able to return.

Allen says Jaylin Williams is "playing too many snaps" because of the other injuries at cornerback.
