Andrel Anthony played his high school football just 1.2 miles from Spartans Stadium in East Lansing.

On Saturday when the Michigan wide receiver caught his first collegiate pass and dashed down the sidelines for a 93-yard touchdown, he put his team on the board first during the Wolverines showdown with in-state rival Michigan State.

Anthony talked about the play on a recent edition of the “In the Trenches” podcast.

“It all happened so fast,” Anthony recalled. “I couldn’t picture a better ball than that. I literally looked, and the ball was like, right here. I just caught it and turned, and I was just like, ‘Nobody’s right here, so run, just run.’

“I really couldn’t feel my body. I just felt numb, but I was moving, so it was kind of like an unexplainable experience.”

The Wolverines went on to take a 30-14 lead shortly after halftime but weren’t able to hold off Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III and the Spartans offense. The final 37-33 in favor of the Spartans was the first loss of the season for Michigan.
