An Illinois wide receiver has decided to enter the transfer portal.

According to Jeremy Werner of 247Sports, Marquez Beason has entered the portal after playing in just 7 games over 3 seasons with the team.

Beason had to miss all of the 2019 season due to a torn ACL and then played 7 games with the Fighting Illini last season while starting 2 of them at cornerback. He finished with 7 total tackles (5 solo).

Before committing to Illinois, Beason was considered a top 1oo prospect per 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 17 player in Texas during the 2018 recruiting class and the No. 5 overall athlete in the class as well. Besides Illinois, he had offers from Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, etc.

We’ll have to see where he takes his talents to next.
