Bret Bielema has played Minnesota a ton throughout his coaching career and he has still yet to lose.

Bielema improved to 8-0 over the Golden Gophers on Saturday after his Fighting Illini upset them, 14-6.

It was a low-scoring affair but Illinois played great defense and was able to hold Minnesota to a goose egg through 3 quarters. They didn’t let Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan do much of anything as he finished with just 180 yards through the air with no touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Brandon Peters, on the other hand, threw 1 touchdown pass and no interceptions as he hit Tip Reiman who was wide open in the end zone from 15 yards out. That extended the lead to 14-0 going into halftime.

This was also Bielema’s 2nd big upset win in the last 3 weeks as the head coach. His squad went to Happy Valley just 2 weeks ago and stunned Penn State, 20-18 in 9 overtimes.

Illinois is now 4-6 going into its last 2 games.
