Maryland was on the brink of making it a 1-score game against Penn State until quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa made a costly mistake.

Tagovailoa threw an 87-yard pick-6 to Nittany Lions defensive back Ji’Ayir Brown, who iced the game as he made it 31-14 with just over 2 minutes to go.

This was Tagovailoa’s 1st and only interception of the game after throwing for 371 yards and 1 touchdown before that.

It was a bit of a sluggish performance for the Nittany Lions, especially for the 1st half. They led just 7-6 going into the break but were able to pull away in the 2nd half, notably the 4th quarter.

Sean Clifford threw for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns, the latter of which all went to Jahan Dotson. He continued his stellar season with 11 receptions for 242 yards, plus those 3 scores.

The Nittany Lions are now 6-3 going into next Saturday’s contest against No. 9 Michigan.
