The Michigan Wolverines bounced back nicely on Saturday with a 29-7 win over Indiana. Maybe it didn’t erase the sting of a blown lead over an in-state rival from a week earlier, but it got the Wolverines (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) back on track.
Running back Hassan Haskins—168 yards and a score on 27 carries—ran wild and quarterback Cade McNamara hit a handful of big plays in the passing game. Michigan’s offense had some punch. On the other side, Michigan’s defense tied a season-low for points allowed in a game.
Elsewhere, the Wolverines set a different kind of season-high.
According to MLive’s Samuel Dodge, there were 20 fans ejected from the game and one arrested for disorderly conduct, the highest number of fan interactions with law enforcement on the season.
Of the 20 ejections, 4 were for violations of stadium rules, 7 were for intoxication, and 9 were for disorderly conduct, according to Michigan police.
Conduct in the stands has been an issue all year in Ann Arbor, but it came to a head Saturday. Against Rutgers on Sept. 25, 10 fans were ejected and another was arrested for sexual assault, according to MLive. Against Northwestern, 5 fans were ejected. Against Northern Illinois, 1 was ejected and 1 was arrested. Three were ejected from Michigan’s game against Washington earlier in the year and 1 arrest was made. In the previous five home games, a total of 21 fans were ejected.
The reported attendance for Saturday night’s game was 109,980. Michigan has just a single home game left to play this season—a Nov. 27 clash with Ohio State at noon.
