Through the first quarter, Maryland’s offense might as well have been run by 11 real life turtles. That’s how slow-moving the Terrapins were early in this game.

After the first 15 minutes, the Terrapins netted just one total yard. Nothing was working offensively for Maryland. Until the football got into the hands of Ty Johnson.

Down 16-0 and needing some spark, Johnson took a handoff 62 yards to give Maryland a sign of life and put the Terps on the scoreboard.

Johnson has had several explosive plays throughout the season but hasn’t been able to do it against such talented defenses. At the end of the regular season, the sophomore led the B1G in yards per carry with an 8.9 average.

Maryland is going to need some more big plays from Johnson to try and wear down that stingy Boston College defense.
