Football was not Craig Sager’s calling.

Long before he was a widely recognizable TNT broadcaster, Sager attempted to walk on to the Northwestern football team. Instead, he ended up being “Willie the Wildcat” for three years, which launched a long and successful career in sports entertainment.

Two weeks ago, Northwestern mourned the death of one of their most famous graduates. In the Pinstripe Bowl on Wednesday, they’ll honor the late NBA personality with a helmet sticker:

The Wildcats will rock the new lids against Pitt at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. Northwestern is in search of its third bowl victory in program history.

Kickoff is set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET.
