Ohio State continued their march towards the Big Ten Championship Game with a 59-31 victory over Purdue Saturday and along the way, a record was almost broken.

Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has been on a tear recently, went over 1,000 yards for the season.

Smith-Njigha has nearly 400 yards receiving (379) in his last two games which is the most by any Buckeyes receiver since David Boston, who did it back in the 1998 season.

That season, Boston had 380 yards. The Buckeyes offense is ranked No. 1 in the country overall averaging about 550 yards per game.

They also average about 8 yards per play, which basically means every time they touch the ball, they either get a first down or close to one.

Smith-Njigba and his teammates are a powerful group on offense and that’s why they are one of the top teams in the country.
