Michigan fans were having flashbacks to the Wolverines squandering their early lead against Michigan State just a few weeks back, when Penn State came from behind to take the lead late in the 4th quarter on Saturday.

The Wolverines had a 14-6 lead heading into the final period. But a 2-yard touchdown pass from Nittany Lions quarterback Sean Clifford to Tyler Warren tied the game at 14. After a Michigan fumble on the next drive set up a 31-yard Jordan Stout field goal, Penn State went up 17-14 with just under 6 minutes left.

But the Michigan offense responded with a 75-yard, 6-play drive to put the Wolverines up 21-17, where the score would end.

Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh had high praise for the Penn State quarterback after the game. Harbaugh was particularly impressed with Clifford’s ability to make difficult throws while under pressure.

Throughout the season, Clifford has dealt with injuries but continued to play. He’s been the heart and soul of the Penn State offense.

Clifford and the Nittany Lions play host to Rutgers on Saturday, Nov. 20 with an 11:00 AM kickoff. For the Wolverines, they will head to Maryland to take on the Terps with a 2:30 PM kickoff the same day.
