For Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera, Sunday’s win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was bittersweet.
Washington came away with the 29-19 win.
But defensive end Chase Young left the game with an injury before the half and didn’t return. WFT head coach Ron Rivera confirmed on Monday that Young tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

The WFT defense held the potent Tampa Bay offense at bay, and their offense dominated the final period with a 10-minute scoring drive to keep the Bucs off the field to come away with the 29-19 win.
With just under 8 minutes left in the second quarter. Young rushed Bucs quarterback Tom Brady on a 3rd down play and went to the ground without much contact. The injury cart was summoned, but Young waved it off and limped more than 30 yards to the tunnel.
The Washington defense had already been running without defensive end Montez Sweat, who will miss four to six weeks after breaking his jaw against Denver on Oct. 31. With Young out, James Smith-Williams and Casey Toohill will be looked upon to handle the edges.
Young was the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft out of Ohio State. He was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after his 7.5 sacks during his rookie season.
