Ohio State’s defense is going to have its hands full this weekend. The Buckeyes will be tasked with containing Kenneth Walker III, the nation’s leading running back through 10 games of the season.
Saturday morning, the College GameDay crew was in Columbus to preview Saturday’s Top 10 showdown between No. 7 Michigan State and No. 4 Ohio State. Making a special appearance was Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.
Day was asked to talk about several things as his team prepares for a noon kickoff against the Spartans. One question posed was what he’s seen so far out of the star running back in East Lansing.
“He’s a very good back and he’s run really well. He makes a lot of guys miss,” Day said on the pregame show. “It’s a big challenge for our defense.”
Walker has rushed for 1,473 yards and 17 touchdowns this season and he’s also caught 12 passes for 85 yards and an additional score. He’s hit the 100-yard mark 7 times this season and exceeded 150 yards on 4 occasions.
For Michigan State to have success, Walker has to have a big afternoon.
Day knows that. So does the Ohio State defense.
