Cincinnati is the guiding light for all Group of 5 teams. The Bearcats have now found themselves inside the top 4 after the College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night.

Luke Fickell has slowly turned Cincinnati into a contender. He has a 46-14 win-loss record with the Bearcats since getting hired in December of 2016. The Bearcats have won 20 straight regular-season games and boast the 8th-best scoring offense and the 6th-best scoring defense

The head coach joined ESPN Tuesday night to talk about his team’s ranking after the CFP committee put the Bearcats at No. 4.

Here’s what Fickell had to say:

“I think it’s awesome,” said Fickell. “I think it’s great for our entire team, our program, our community, and our campus. We know and we keep trying to stress to our guys that we’ve got a ways to go. We’ve got 2 really big games coming up here. But, I think, all in all, the excitement about it and the recognition is well-deserved for a group of guys who have really fought and battled all year.”

Cincinnati (11-0) finishes off the regular season with East Carolina (7-4) away from home on Friday. The two square off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
