Coaching carousel rumors: ACC head coach expected to land extension with current program

Wake Forest is aiming for a bit of history this season, and head coach Dave Clawson appears to be sticking around in Winston-Salem long term.
The Demon Deacons are 9-2 on the year and have already tied the second-highest win total in a single season in program history. With Week 13 still to go, a potential ACC Championship Game appearance and a looming bowl game, Wake Forest still has a chance to tie – or break – the single-season wins mark of 11 set in 2006.
At the helm of it all is Clawson who took over the program for the 2014 season. He has produced 3 bowl wins in his tenure, and he is trying to push the Demon Deacons to even higher heights. It also looks like he is going to get rewarded for the big year.
According to Pete Thamel with Yahoo! Sports, Clawson has reached a long-term extension agreement with Wake Forest. Clawson had received interest from multiple Power 5 openings this year, but he’s electing to stay in Winston-Salem, per Thamel.
Sources: Wake Forest has reached a long-term contract extension with coach Dave Clawson. Wake Forest is 9-2 and can clinch a spot in ACC title game at BC tomorrow. Clawson has received interest from multiple Power 5 schools in this coaching cycle.
