Saturday was a special day in Minneapolis.

That’s how PJ Fleck defined Minnesota’s 23-13 win over Wisconsin, returning Paul Bunyan’s Axe back to Minneapolis and squashing the Badgers’ hopes of a B1G West title and a trip to Indianapolis.

Minnesota shut down Wisconsin’s offensive attack and was able to get enough production from quarterback Tanner Morgan in the 10-point victory. It bumped the Gophers to 8-4 on the season, a strong season considering how much the team lost due to injuries this year.

Following Minnesota’s win, Fleck talked about the “special” win at Huntington Bank Stadium on Saturday. He also spoke to the team coming together and have a strong year in 2021.

Below is what he had to say:

Minnesota has now claimed Paul Bunyan’s Axe twice in the past 3 seasons. The Gophers will now wait to hear where they’ll be headed for their bowl game.
