Michigan State’s secondary has taken a hit, and it comes just two days after the Spartans closed out a 10-win season with a 30-27 victory over Penn State.

Per Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, fifth-year senior Emmanuel Flowers has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He joins fellow defensive back Michael Dowell to explore other opportunities.

Dowell entered the portal on Sunday.

Flowers played in 11 of Michigan State’s 12 games this season and was credited with 3 tackles. He played on special teams but was also utilized in the secondary throughout the course of the year. His lone absence came in last weekend’s game over Penn State.

The defensive back logged appearances in 29 total games for the Spartans. During his time in East Lansing, the senior totaled 7 stops.

Flowers will have 1 year of eligibility remaining because of the COVID-19 waiver granted by the NCAA.
