This season, the transfer portal has been just as crazy as the coaching carousel. There’s a reason why college football off-season is sometimes referred to as silly season.

The B1G has had several great players transfer this season. Indiana DB Devon Matthews announced he was staying for a final season on Monday morning. This is huge news for the Hoosiers.

In 4 seasons with the Hoosiers, Matthews has 145 tackles, 91 of which were solo, 12 pass deflections, 6 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery.

The Hoosiers had high hopes for the beginning of the season, and then everything fell apart. Indiana finished the season 2-10 and 0-9 in B1G play after coming off of 1 of its best seasons when they went 6-2 and went to the Outback Bowl.

Indiana was riddled with QB injuries where for a few games, they had to start redshirt freshman Donaven McCulley.

The Hoosiers have lost some talent to the transfer portal. It is huge that Matthews will be returning for a final season to keep some talent in the secondary.

It could be a very long offseason for the Hoosier faithful in Bloomington, but the basketball team looks better than advertised, and that can keep the Indiana fans away from football until at least the spring.
