Michigan is trying to find some consistency for the start of conference play Tuesday, but the Wolverines will be without a starter for the game vs. Nebraska.

According to James Hawkins with The Detroit News, the Wolverines announced prior to tip-off that freshman Moussa Diabate did not make the trip. In Diabate’s absence, Brandon Johns Jr. will get the start.

Diabate was a 5-star prospect and the No. 17 recruit nationally for the class of 2021 per the composite rankings. He came off the bench for the first 6 games of the season but had started the last 2. Michigan lost to UNC and beat San Diego State in those two games.

Diabate is 4th on the team in scoring at 7.6 points per game while also averaging 4.5 rebounds and 1 block per game. Michigan has had an up-and-down start to the season with losses already to Seton Hall, Arizona, and UNC while falling out of the AP Top 25.

It will be interesting to see how Michigan adjusts without Diabate in the lineup.
